On Thursday, August 28th, award-winning Machel Montano comes to the world renowned S.O.B.'s for a very rare intimate club appearance. Machel is arguably the most famous and beloved soca singer in the world, having sold out 2 nights at Madison Square Garden many times in the past. He is perhaps best known for his high energy, fast-paced, and often unpredictable stage performances.

During his career, which spans over 25 years, Montano has managed to bring Soca music and the culture of his native Trinidad to audiences around the world. Through his music he has been able to bring Soca to the mainstream, earning the title “The Prince of Soca”, with his unique ability to make music that speaks across borders and resonates with international audiences. By staying true to the roots of Soca, Montano has been able to revolutionize and modernize the genre, infusing the unique combination African and Indian beats that is Soca with Hip-Hop and Dancehall rhythms, opening up the genre to a younger generation looking for a way to connect with local and international sounds.

Montano made history in 2007 as the first soca artist to sell out two back-to-back shows at New York City's Madison Square Garden. The MSG shows earned rave reviews for their innovative use of carnival's elaborate masquerade tradition and the music that accompanies this celebration.
